The Willingness to Die Within

First the light leaves your eyes

Then the will leaves your soul

Eyes wide open but I sleep in shame

Another pill another name

Digging deeper a hole within

Buried alive beneath my skin

Hope was a liar in a Sunday suit

Fed me silence and called it truth

I gave my fight to the bottle's spin

And found the willingness to die within

Burn the flesh numb the pain

Let the blood wash down the drain

No one saves you no one tries

Just a dead man learning how to die

I watched myself through shattered glass

Begged the mirror"Let me pass"

But shadows whispered"You're not through

There's one more death inside of you"Kneel to the god of hollow things

Wear the crown the reaper brings

Say goodbye don't pretend

There's no return Only the end

I prayed to fade but pain held tight

Drank with demons in the dying light

I buried me with trembling skin

And praised the willingness

To die within
