Touchdown through the tunnels that first night

Woke up in the blue morning to 40 degree light

A week visiting beaches my old man once gave up

A stretch of desolation like goddamn Lawrence of Arabia

A fond farewell a greyhound bound north up that coastal road

New friends old stones painted La La La my heart's gonna explode

Growing up thinning out in the South Land of my blood

Man the coffee back home's gonna taste like mud

So far so few atoms split

But there's a story here

And this is it

Onward alone to the harbour in the rain

And silent dancing evenings 'neath the lighthouse on the bay

From a concrete nightmare some call paradise

I hitched the first ride out at sunrise

Dear familiar faces in the sun-baked city streets

Where brothers gave the gift of music back unto me

Packing up breaking out with an ever brighter light

Man I'm gonna miss the wheel the bridge at night

Soon I heard the Moondance and my fears unfound

Stranger kindness changed the tides of a night on the cold wet ground

Whirlwind waves hell's gates shell gazing ancient non-rescue

Then stagnant in Agnes deciding that night if I'm riding or throwing down roots

Crack-the owl-smashed glass perhaps to warn me slow this pace

Sunsick on the road the very moment she showed her face

Thumbing up sailing out gray daylight on the reef

Oh the dark of love never seemed so bittersweet

Southbound again to meet my final fate

Stopped the night to pay respect to what my old man calls The Steak

Then on again through dusk and dawn and Capitol Hill

Till at last the place to bring yourself still

Now it's jobs and centres mobs and trams
