We’ve had so many happy years.
Life was easy, free of fears.
I’m sad to say that’s gone away,
Goodbye to simple joys.
Coronavirus hit our shore,
And old folks never died before,
But now they do, I’m telling you
We have no other choice.
Let’s go ahead and wet the bed
And scare ourselves to death.
Stay at home and be alone,
Or we could all be next.
There’s danger lurking in your every breath.
Tell the kids they’ve got a bug.
They might kill grandma with a hug.
And close the schools, ‘cuz it’s not cruel
To keep them terrified.
Hide your face, don’t take a chance,
Not even for some hot romance.
Do what you’re told and be controlled
Or everyone could die.
Close the shops, yes, close them all
Unless they’re selling alcohol.
Close the gyms, no yoga class.
Be healthy sitting on your ass.
Livelihoods will be destroyed.
That’s fine as long as I’m employed
And I don’t have to commute.
When you leave home your state must know
Who you see and where you go.
Don’t talk to me of liberty.
It’s all to keep us safe.
Land of the free, home of the brave.
No, no! There might be a second wave.
If no one dies, but cases rise
We still must be afraid.
Let’s go ahead and wet the bed
And scare ourselves to death.
Don’t form a crowd, that’s not allowed.
It’s too big of a threat.
There’s danger lurking in your every breath.
