Monster

Uh, this song is beginning to turn the corner

Goin' from, like, orientation as you stepped into this project

And now we gon' talk about, like, the foundation

The very ground you stand on

And it's dealing with transformation

You know, being born again

It's coming from dark, uh, to light

Um, all of us have, uh, different experiences

Um, you know, folks have different

Perspectives, opinions, and, uh, convictions

Um, but those in Jesus, we all share

This common, you know, denominator

That we have been rescued by our God

And, uh, we are different

It's not just status

We didn't just write this down, uh, or decide

Or, you know, inherit it from our parents, like

We have been made different people

I think of one of my, uh, my favorite, uh, North African theologians

Um, who, uh, wrote about how he used to be a ladies' man

You know, before his conversion

And, and, uh, he saw, after he became, um, a believer

He saw one of his, uh, his ex-situations, uh, walking down the street

And she shouted across, like, "Ayy, it is I, it is I"

And, uh, she was wondering why he was being so slow to respond

So she kept saying, "It is I, it is I"

You know, "You— What's up?" You know, "It's me"

And, uh, he finally responded, "Well

You know, it's no longer I though

It— I— I'm not him anymore"

Uh, and I think that personifies this, um, this song

It's just a classic Jesus jam

I got my homie Aha on it, um, way before Reach Records

Him and I worked on this song

And, uh, and I— I'm— I'm very pleased with the way that it came out

And I cannot wait to, uh, do this mug live, uh, with

All my redeemed sons and daughters, uh, across the world

That, uh, we can celebrate

If nothing else, we can celebrate that, you know, Jesus has changed us
