If I had a dollar for every time I was wrong

I would have been very wealthy for so long

There was a time when I thought I knew it all

But you can't run 'til you've walked, or walk 'til you've crawled

In life's journey, we all develop and mature

But we can all learn some new lessons for sure

I used to think arguing was being strong

I never could admit it when I was wrong

Learnin' from mistakes now as I learn and grow

The more I listen the more I seem to know

Been learnin' to see the trees through the forest

Still have much to learn, if I'm bein' honest

Never say never, or say you wouldn't ever

'Cuz right now you just may not know any better

If it were you having the hardest of times

Surely, you'd hope someone would choose to be kind

You need to understand it before you can express it

When your mind isn't open, "it's your luck don't press it"

And that's why you can't ever say never

Don't judge others, you don't what they've been through

All their struggles, it could easily be you

"There but for the grace of God" the saying goes

Humility and kindness help our souls grow

Always keep that in your mind and in your heart

And we'll all be off to a much better start

If I could only tell my old self one thing

I would say "learn to be more understanding"

Empathy has brought me a long way in life

Helping others get through their troubles and strife

Proud of that, say each day I'm making progress

It will continue in my lifelong process
