Welcome to the Ryman
We're glad to have you here
A heckler on the road to hell
Is why ya'll are here
They called it Union Gospel
And had its birth right here
To preach the word, bankrolled I heard
From Riverboats and Beer
When bluegrass blossomed and left the frontier
Step into the Ryman
We want to make it clear
This church was always made for worship
But the debt load changed the ears
And after Jones was done revivals
Came the Nashville Volunteers
They filled that balcony right there
And Lula booked the gigs all year
Look around the Ryman
The worlds famous gathered here
Early days saw Fields and Chaplin
Before they disappeared
Howard Taft, Will Rogers laughed
And Teddy brought the house to tears
The wood all holds those memories
In the silence you can hear it all
Listen to the Ryman
And the stamping and the cheers
The legends sang their hearts out
Their hopes and dreams and fears
Mother Maybelle, Little Jimmy
And the other pioneers
Singin' bout their memories
And the lives on the frontier
When bluegrass blossomed and left the frontier
The Opry's in the Ryman
It put its roots down here
It took the stage in 43
And then a run of 30 years
Marty, Minnie, Hank and Patsy
All made the atmosphere
It laid the King and Cash so low
They smashed the lights out and the mirror
The Opry left the Ryman
And it fell to disrepair
The magic and the soul
Gave way to long despair
Then Emmy Lou and Nashville
Gave heart and persevered
To breath new life and remind us
That the Ryman is Revered
Now join us in the Ryman
The pews ours to share
You're now part of the story
And the history is dear
The past leads us all forward
And the future is so clear
This halls' where bluegrass blossomed
And country left the old frontier
