Brass bell, white stone patio
A snowstorm down on Lake Hyco
The breeze is playing those damn wind chimes
He's throwing snowballs at street signs
Modelo beer and grill scarred rind
Will lift him up from time to time
But like icicles on the roof he's frozen in
Tied down by guilt, regret, and sin
And he's throwing water on icy roads
Seeking you in life's daily highs and lows
Because hurting still helps him to feel
And if snow covers those roads, maybe they won't feel real
A walk to the dock is so forlorn
Heart is heavy and joints are worn
And the rotted wood, the poles, the old fish plaque
Reminds him of days he can't take back
But the view of the lake is quite sublime
He smiles down at the water's shine
And someone else is in the water too
It's that green-eyed boy that he once knew
And he's throwing water on icy roads
Seeking you in life's daily highs and lows
Because hurting still helps him to feel
And if snow covers those roads, maybe they won't feel real
And all that innocent wonder
Now seems all but gone
And his life keeps passing behind him
Maybe it's time to move on
A rusty key in a broken drawer
To that beat down Ford Explorer
Could carry him off to a better day
Somewhere warm he'd like to stay
And as the wipers do their best to erase
Warm lines of ice mark out his face
Cuz he might crash, burnout, breakdown, or skid
But that doesn't mean he ever should've hid
And now he's driving out on icy roads
Take the next exit, wherever the hell it goes
Because it just takes some time to deal
With all that damn snow, it can feel so real
