Madness (Commentary)

Well I'm very excited to share my album with you and give you a little

Bit of insight as to, you know, what the tracks mean, how they were

Made and written and recorded. And uh, I've gotta preface it by

Saying it was the toughest album I've ever made. I think just the

Nature of life and everything that enveloped me during this period

Of my life made it tough for some reason. And um, you know, I've got

Family to worry about and I've got, just stuff that was kind of

I don't know, just almost changed me a little bit as an artist. And

Whereas in the past I would have written songs and kind of been cool

With it and I would have put it to bed and said, "Yeah, that's cool

I'm happy with that." For some reason this time around, I would

Rewrite stuff like five or six times. And even though that whole task

Was very laborious, now that I've got my album in my hands, I'm

Actually so happy that I went through that. I'm so happy that I kind

Of churned and that I was pedantic about it because I feel like I've

Got something in my hands that I'm the most proud of, of anything

That I've ever made in my life. And um, you know, I'm gonna start

The track by track by running through the title track of the album

Which is called "Madness." And I guess the reason I called it "

Madness" was because of my life during this time. It was crazy. It was

Just a tough time. Um, very busy, lots of travel, just constantly on

Planes and trains and um, just, yeah, trying to juggle a bunch of

Stuff while still being creative and having my time in the studio

And um, so I wrote this song and I actually, I rewrote this song

Maybe more than any other song on the album. Like I had the title

But I just didn't have it rounded off. So I had a bunch of lyrics

And, you know, the chorus always started the way it did, but the

Ending was different. And I remember actually getting to this point

Where I just couldn't think of anything. And I asked a friend of

Mine to come and help me write, just to help me finish the song

And um, we were looking through some quotes together and then I

Saw this quote basically online that pretty much alluded to the

Fact that we all do crazy things when we're in love. Like I think

You can only relate when you've felt that feeling where you're like

"Why did I do that?" Or "Why did I, like, I would normally never

Act in that way." Or "I would normally never put it all on the line

" You know. But you know, when you love somebody, you kind of do

Silly things. And there was this quote that said something along

The lines of, "Being crazy is the same as being in love. They go

Hand in hand." And it kind of sparked this idea. I was reading with

This girl Carmen, who I ended up writing, finishing the song with

And um, I ended up with the last line, "They say it's madness

But I call it love." And um, and it basically just gave me that

Rounding to the song that it needed. And um, yeah. And it would

Definitely be one of my favorite songs

On the album. I love a good ballad
