I remembered during the war I was evacuated in the country

And I used to go and get mulberries from the mulberry bush

So that I can feed my young brother and sister and myself

And I just remember that feeling of

Between the sky and the fields and the bush, the mulberry bush

I was alone and just picking and

It's getting a bit cold though the sky's still blue

Because the sun is going down behind the mountains

And I was feeling a bit sort of frightened because

They said that there are many ghosts in the fields

And I was a little girl and had to go back home all by myself
