I miss your touch, your smile in the rain

A stopped train is hard to get moving

A speeding train is harder to stop

Stay out of the way when the tracks are oiled

Or there will be an awfully huge train pile-up

The fast track is a means to disaster

No track of life ever runs that smooth

And those who accomplish most things faster

Have never had to struggle for something to prove

But then again why on earth should I struggle?

I think I deserve all those good things in life

But if I truly must wait for a slow train of fate

Can't I do it without any strife?

Of all the moments I've found the most pleasure

Those were the times when the tracks flew too fast

So on the slow tracks of fate look for treasure

So all the good moments won't lie in the past

I think you may be right

and this gives me a little fright

Since my age is quite nearly fifty

I have never accomplished much

Of anything in my life

And I'm no longer as bright or as shifty

So let's make this train go faster

Let's get it into a groove

Although my future could spell disaster

It's time to make my move

All tracks lead to the same end

and you can not outrun this fate

Be you fifty or only twenty

Only at the end is it too late

Why rush to disaster for yourself?

You could go slower and help someone else

So I step on the throttle

and I push down the lever

Faster and faster I go

Once again on my way to disaster

This is the only fate that I know

So determined you will surely fail

Perhaps you should squeeze the brakes

Take a moment to find yourself

Pressure only cracks thin slate

Stand your ground and find your center

not in those who gaze at you

Take this moment to remember

It's your life so you must choose
