I Am A Witness

I remember (I remember) a long time ago (long time ago)

I saw something (something) I never seen before (never seen before)

I saw a grown man (ooh-ooh) down on his knees (down on his knees)

Begging to the Lord (begging the Lord) to help him, please (help him, please)

The man was my daddy (he was my daddy), he taught me how to pray

(Taught me how to pray)

He said, "If you trust in the Lord (trust in Lord), He always makes a way"

(He'll make a way)

So I start watching (I start watching) everything that he do (everything that he do)

And I start to be, trying to be like daddy too

I couldn't plow the mule, but I could hold the line

But all daddy had to say was, "Speak," and the mule moved every time

If I could help anybody

I could save my daddy, he wasn't no fool (wasn't no fool)

He not only could teach a child how to mine (child how to mine)

My daddy could train a mule (train a mule)

If he said, "Giddy up," (giddy up) the mule knows to go (to go)

When he got ready for him to stop, all he to do was say, "whoa"

"Yield" was to the right, and "haul" was to the left

If the mule didn't do it right, it was only hurting itself

If my daddy (if my daddy) could train a mule (could train a mule)

Then I know my daddy (ooh-ooh) didn't train no fool (train no fool)

I learned from other people's mistakes (people's mistakes)

And that's when I, I get break, 'cause

God only asked for ten percent of my life

But I gave it all to him, and his mother died twice

I said, "Lord, I give it all to You (I give it all to You)

You tell me, "What you want me to do?" (What you want me to do?)

I say, "Jesus (Jesus), I give my life to You" (I give my life to You)

You tell me (You tell me) what You want me to do (what You want me to do)

I remember when I said that I wanted to be like you (be just like you)

Well, I didn't know what they put You through (put You through)

Everybody wanna be at the top, but nobody wanna make a start

But that's how it happened, when it come from my God, 'cause

God gave you His only begotten Son

But He told me if I trust it now, look what He done, done

You been good to me (so good to me)

And I'm gonna keep my word too (keep me my word too)

Lord, I'm not trying to be selfish (no)

I know everything belong to You (belong to You)

But if I need You to do something

Please bless (bless), bless my family (my family)

Lord, make them be proud of me (proud of me)

Let them live their own life

But I wanna thank You for letting me live mine twice

When the doctors gave up, I called on You

And I'm here today, Lord, to tell them You will come through

Somebody (somebody) got a little lacking of faith (lacking of faith)

They may see somebody (may see somebody)

Don't believe in "amazing grace" (amazing grace)

I wanna be real with everybody (so real)

I wanna tell the truth (tell the truth)

If you don't try for yourself (try for yourself)

You'll n-never (never know) know what God can do (what God can do)

You see, I was a blind man

And I couldn't even see my way (see my way)

But I went to the altar (to the altar)

Well, I did know now, in a church where they really prayed (really prayed)

And God healed, so I can see

All these people looking at me, and I said

Lord, I don't believe what I'm seeing

But here I am
