I see the pictures, and I turn the page, and it brings back memories

A different life many years ago, but it's still a part of me

I close my eyes, I hear her voice, eveything I need is free

The Summer Sun is shining bright, and it's shining right on me

Cruising town in my old Ford, she sat close by my side

A bench seat and 3 on the tree, a fleetside 2 wheel drive

It didn't take us very far, we didn't have too far to go

I guess we thought that we were there. We didn't know what we didn't know

The Summer Sun had bleached her hair, her tan line was looking good

She thought that I was pretty smart, I probably knew more than I should

But I didn't know when you let go, you can lose what you can't find

The world was small, the days were long, and time was still our friend

The Summer Sun hung in the sky,we thought it would never end

But days and weeks rolled into months, and months turned into years

We grew up, then grew apart, then it all disappeared

I moved east, and she stayed put, we never really said "goodbye"

It ended like those summer days, as the sun melts from the sky

The world grew big, and time moved fast... I had a million miles to go

I lost sight of that Summer Sun and the place that I called home

I'm fortunate for everything that life has given me

I look ahead and around the curves to see what I can see

But sometimes on a hot Summer day, as the the evening fades to night

Those memories from long ago are still glowing in the sky
