Recreating the wheel, we make it fake where it's real
Apparently, we O'Hare in this thing
Sell a bottle full of air, can you breathe?
No? Well, you could with a fee
The country in shock because our cities on fire
Needa renew energy we on a path it's down and spiraling
Inhaling the smoke, prone to choke, nobody smiling
Saying it's a hoax, what a joke, when you retiring?
Climate is changing we see it all in our hazards
We got officials in the cameras touting bout it doesn't matter
There's enough on our plates, steady refilling by the platter
I'm pissed off, every lie filling my bladder
The world around me so focused on advancement
No looking around appreciating what we passing
Out of touch with nature, recreating what was natural
Thinking 'bout the Lorax, counting down until that happens
How many of us willing to speak for the trees?
There's a wave that's on the rise, it's not the people it's the seas
Damn the earth is dying in the mirror I see disease
Will it come to pass? it's hard to recognize seasons
How many other species go to war on they planet
Drain the earth of nutrients and leave debris abandoned
Destroying ecosystems taking it for granted
Uprooting all the life in ways you couldn't plant it
Not a misanthrope but the way we living is a damn joke
Whoever puppets strings way better off strumming a banjo
Picking powdered pills in place of aloe
We draining waterfalls for the cashflow
When we done demanding what we damned for
When we gonna write a different anthem
I'm tired of the acting like it's random
Disaster should be something that we plan for
We got deforestation, overexploitation
Somebody gotta say it, but overpopulation
Turn off light pollution, I miss the constellations
Fashion so fast we'd never need to replace it
Avoiding the ocean, acidity inflatin
The soil getting spoiled, chemical degradation
Strangely a nation facing daily radiation
Seem like destruction our only creation
Doomerism just a euphemism for consumerism
Proof in pudding room is missing for the humor in it
Cue a movement end the grooming of pollutants booming
Losing truth for youth to use I'm fuming no amusement in it
The world around me so focused on advancement
No looking around appreciating what we passing
Out of touch with nature, recreating what was natural
Thinking 'bout the Lorax, counting down until that happens
How many of us willing to speak for the trees?
There's a wave that's on the rise, it's not the people it's the seas
Damn the earth is dying in the mirror I see disease
Will it come to pass? it's hard to recognize seasons
Remember way back writing poems 'bout a rose
Trynna impress this girl I'm better off leaving alone
I talked about the thorns how they hurt to hold
How the harder we grip, the more blood will flow
For context the poem titled Thorns & Pedals
Then she hit me with a line I might remember forever
"Gotta learn to love the rose enough to learn to let it go"
It made me think innately, do we even need so much control?
That's the reason for the change titled Pedals & Thorns
Forever grateful for her view 'cus it challenged my norms
Appreciating the view without arranging its' form
Like how peace a bigger statement than involvement in war
Pulled up to this park, a real cold morning
Saw this work of art, the subtleties gorgeous
Spider web crystallized awe struck in my surprise
Seeing usually thin lines be bold and underlined
Thinking what a sight to hold and quite a time to be alive
Any later I arrive, I wouldn't have seen it with my eyes
No moment to spare, a kid ruins the web
Feel it with my eyes, he use his hands instead
I'm not mad at the youngin' for doing what he's wanting
If we're honest, the actions that he took were rather harmless
The bigger picture's that the spider didn't deserve it
Humans force their will on earth too impulsive to reserve it
The world around me so focused on advancement
No looking around appreciating what we passing
Out of touch with nature, recreating what was natural
Thinking 'bout the Lorax, counting down until that happens
How many of us willing to speak for the trees?
There's a wave that's on the rise, it's not the people it's the seas
Damn the earth is dying in the mirror I see disease
Will it come to pass? it's hard to recognize seasons
I disconnect, I don't really need a reason
The media hungry, and my mind is how they feeding
I step back, break, pause, rest is what I need
It's worth slowing down if just to keep us up to speed
I feel like I'm a flower who been drowning in the weeds
Diminished, depleted, out of touch with what I'm needing
Lungs punched, air blown, difficulty breathing
Heart strained, raw pain, difficulty beating
Heard the other day our kids not learning how to read
If it isn't for the paper, why we cutting down the trees?
But please, lead with a video format
Evolving into caves no one left to explore math
You know what? scratch that I plead the first
I got a voice to use and imma speak until it hurts
As long as I'm alive I'll never run out of a verse
Observing what's around me, think awareness is a curse
I'm ranting in a song cus if I write you'll lose attention
Distracted long before we have a chance to use discretion
Plus our memory is losing bandwidth
What we used to have has been supplanted
C-Mo only came to keep it candid
How you like that?
