I walk on roads I never paved

Steps feel free but they were paid

By backs bent low and voices strained

By faith that stood in pouring rain

They whispered hope when hope was thin

Kept believing they would win

I'm standing tall because they knelt

I breathe the prayers they never felt

They didn't see the fruit they sowed

Still they carried heavy loads

What they planted through their tears

Bloomed across a hundred years

I'm built from their prayers

Their scars and their cries

From hands lifted high

Through pain they survived

I'm proof that the seed

Outlived the despair

I walk in the freedom

They prayed would be there

They sang through chains and broken laws

Still believed in something more

Taught us love when hate was loud

Taught us strength without a crown

Every wrong they met with right

I carry stories in my veins
