Goldilocks and the three bears
Once upon a time
When bears lived very happily next door to people
There lived a young girl called Goldilocks
She was called Goldilocks because of her long golden hair
Goldilocks lived with her mummy and daddy
Who would always spoil her rotten
Goldilocks had no manners
She never once said please or thank you
And she would get anything she asked for
Everything and anything was always ready for her
Her food, her dolls, her toys, her clothes
Her pajamas, her books, absolutely everything
And to Goldilocks, absolutely everything belonged to her
When she was invited to birthday parties
She could not quite see why people got upset
When she started to open other people's presents
Or start eating the cake before it had been cut
But everyone was too scared to say anything to Goldilocks
And so she simply carried on taking whatever she wanted
One fine early spring morning
Around the time when she had stopped being invited
To other children's birthday parties, Goldilocks was bored
Her parents had bought her a new book and a new doll
But she was fed up playing with them
"I'm so fed up and bored"
Goldilocks said to no one but herself angrily
For her parents were elsewhere in the house doing other things as usual
She got herself out of her enormous king-sized bed
Got dressed and went downstairs
She saw the golden sun warming the garden
And spied that the back door was open
"I'm going to go for a little walk
Who knows, there may be a birthday party I can go to
And eat some yummy cake"
And with that she stood up, walked out the back door
Through the garden, onto the lane, and on into the woods
Without once thinking to tell her parents
Not that they would have noticed for some time
Now, it just so happened that in another cottage not too far away
A family of bears had decided to go for a walk
In the exact same woods, whilst they waited for their breakfast to cool down
There was Daddy Bear, Mummy Bear, and Baby Bear
Who was roughly the same age as Goldilocks
They loved spending time together as a family
Especially walking in the woods on a lovely spring morning
Baby Bear suggested a game of hide-and-seek
"I'll count first" said Baby Bear
And so Mummy and Daddy went and hid
