Begin & End

Sunrise on a cool, crisp spring morning.

I watched the sun rise with you.

We held hands,

Cried so hard,

Made demands,

Said what’s true.

True.

Sunset, but you’re no longer with me;

I watch the sun set alone.

Head held high,

Heart so full,

Eyes now dry,

Life unknown.

But nothing’s really gone.

Tomorrow, one more dawn.

Here’s where we end and we begin

With a future we can’t see now.

Where will we go?

No way to know or say.

But we will grow, ‘cause I believe

That we’ve made each other stronger.

Nothing to lose,

So much to choose,

Let’s begin and end today.

Winter seemed to go on forever.

We spent the winter so numb.

Summer’s near,

People change,

No more fear,

Time to search

For what’s to come.

It’s not the end if we begin

With our eyes upon tomorrow.

Walk in the tide

Churning inside, but then--

What seemed so hard soon disappears

If we make the choice together.

Then we’ll forget

And begin and end again.
