Once upon a time, there was a bored little girl called Goldilocks whose hair twinkled with curls
She lived with her granny near a great green wood
And one day walked into it as far as she could
Goldilocks didn't know that hidden among the trees
Was a sweet country cottage as yellow as cheese
And three furry bears lived happily there
Big Daddy Bear, Middle Mummy Bear and Small Baby Bear
Each morning the bears made porridge so yummy
"This porridge is hot," said Middle Bear Mummy
"Let's walk in the wood to let it cool down"
"Good idea," grunted Daddy Bear
"Let's wander around"
Meanwhile, Goldilocks had been chasing a bird
"There's nothing to do," and she moaned, "I'm so bored"
The bird flew away
And she suddenly saw the yellow cottage with its door shaped just like a paw
"Ooh!" Squealed Goldilocks
"What a cute house!," she knocked on the door, but it was quiet as a mouse
But she creeped inside any way to have a good look
It was comfy and cosy and so full of books
On the kitchen table were three yummy porridge bowls
The first was a big bowl painted with blue moles
The second was a middle bowl painted with green spots
The third was a small bowl painted with yellow dots
Goldilocks tasted the big bowl
"Yow! This porridge is too hot!"
She tasted the middle bowl
"Yuck! This porridge is too cold!"
She tasted the small bowl
"Ah! This porridge is just right!"
And she ate up this porridge until no scrap was in sight
Then Goldilocks sat
"Yuck! This chair is too big!"
She tried the middle chair
"Yuck! This chair is made of twigs!"
She tried the small chair
"Ah! This chair is just right!"
But it broke into pieces and gave her a fright
Goldilocks went into the bedroom to have a snooze instead
Just like the chairs, there were three different beds
The first was too hard, the second way too soft
But the third was just right, and she soon drifted off
While she slept, the three bears came home to their lair
"Someone's been eating my porridge," growled Daddy Bear
"Someone's been eating my porridge," grumbled Mummy Bear
"Someone's been eating my porridge," and they ate it all up, squeaked Baby Bear
The bears rushed into the living room, all flummoxed in a fluster
"Someone's been sitting in my chair," was all Daddy Bear could bluster
"Someone's been sitting in my chair," grumbled Mummy Bear
"Someone's been sitting in my chair, and they broke it to pieces," wept Baby Bear
The bears ran upstairs to see what else had happened there
"Someone's been sleeping in my bed," growled Daddy Bear
Someone's been sleeping in my bed, grumbled Mummy Bear
"Someone's been sleeping in my bed and there she is," piped Baby Bear
Goldilocks was snoring away in Baby Bear's cot
On the pillow, her golden hair was shining and so soft
The sudden sound of growling woke her up from her dream
She sat up and saw the bears and screamed and screamed and screamed
Goldilocks decided to try and escape out of the window
But Mummy Bear put her paw on her shoulder
"No, no," said Mummy Bear
"Would you like milk and a biscuit?"
You see the bears didn't often have friends come and visit
Ooh, thanks, said Goldilocks, now feeling less scared
"You'll have to knock at the door next time," said Daddy Bear
"And you can help me fix Baby Bear's chair"
"I'm sorry I came in without asking," she said to the bears
The bears made more porridge and they ate biscuits too
Goldilocks helped Daddy Bear make Baby's chair all new
She'd often come visit and was never ever bored
But she always did remember to knock on the door
